Learning something new
Our morning drive to the babysitter's house includes long stretches of bright sunshine on our faces. I tell Charlotte to cover her eyes or turn away but she usually doesn't want to. She looks directly at the sun! Today, I showed her how she can shade her eyes. She is surprisingly good at it and actually likes to do it!
Salmon for dinner.
We have been cooking with Charlotte for several days and notice she's much more willing to eat what she has helped to cook. Not so with the salmon... Sigh.

Dinner at the beach...
It's nice to be able to have Charlotte in shorts in Pacifica. It's supposed to be murderously hot all week. 92 degrees (farenheit) down where I work in Los Altos, and 70 on the coast.
For the first time, Charlotte wanted a second slice of pizza.
Here, we were trying to pick what I mistakenly thought were Chamomile buds. If you find them and squeeze the buds, you get chamomile juice all over your fingers. Charlotte wants to be like daddy and have her tea, so we give her chamomile tea with milk since she can't have daddy's tea yet.
Can you see the bird in the last picture? He was just about taken out by a wave!

San Pedro Park - Rock Collecting
One of Charlie's favorite things to do when we're out for a walk in nature is to collect rocks. I feel like we're not getting much of a walk in and Jimmy and I are constantly hurrying her along, "Come on, Charlotte, let's go find the Thimbleberry flower" or "Come on, Charlotte, let's go see if the deer came out today." My friend Vaike said to get used to it, that this is how our walks are going to go at this age and to enjoy it for what it is. So we are trying to enjoy her at her two year old pace.
